Prompts for Restart Beginning January 13

To better align with cybersecurity best practices, beginning Monday, January 13, 2025, DoIT Departmental Support (DS) will begin prompting computers that have been up for more than 30 days to restart.

Computers previously supported by AIMS are already set to this threshold. This change also modifies a previous policy for legacy devices supported by DS, which had a 60-day threshold.

You will receive a prompt (Source: KB 104201) to restart your computer if it hasn’t been restarted in the last 30 days. You can defer the prompt but it cannot be canceled and will force a restart after 7 days.

Contact DoIT Departmental Support if you have a business need to be exempt from automatic restarts. Exemption requests may be reviewed with your supervisor and/or director.
