Active Shooter Response Training

All staff are highly encouraged to participate in this training!

The UW-Madison Police Department conducts this Active Shooter Response Training module, of which will review the skills needed to survive a violent event. The focus is on situational awareness, decision making and the Run, Hide, Fight method of dealing with an active threat. The training incudes research results, data from survivors and practical simulations to re-enforce the material. This training also educates staff on the UWPD response, WiscAlerts, and other key safety information.

Our instructors are experienced law enforcement trainers whose main goal is to share tactics and techniques that can and will help you survive a crisis- specifically, to survive and active shooter incident.

As you complete this training:  What you do matters, and we encourage you to remember these three key steps:  RUN, HIDE, and FIGHT.

Online Training is available by logging in with your net ID.

Stay tuned for opportunities to take this training “in person” in 2025.
