Tacos Dorados & More Home Recipes Coming to Dining Menus

Before spring break, we hosted a panel of judges to decide which home recipe that our residents submitted would be the winner of our Recipe Contest for UW–Madison's 175th anniversary. Our judges, including Chancellor Mnookin, chose tacos dorados, a recipe submitted by a Sullivan resident, as the winner. Tacos dorados and the other finalists' delicious dishes will be served in the dining markets later this semester!

Restock Your Office at the Spring Sweep

If you have items or supplies in your office area that you may not be using, now is your chance to clean them out! The 2024 Spring Sweep exchange is happening tomorrow and Friday (April 4–5) at the Frank Holt Center Program Room from 9am–3pm. Drop off stations are open now at Ogg and Holt docks through April 3rd. Stop by and grab some new-to-you items!

Sustainability Wins Administrative Improvement Award

Housing Sustainability, along with partners on campus, were selected as a recipient of the 2024 UW–Madison Administrative Improvement Award! The team is being recognized for the Single-Stream Recycling Transition — the project that changed Housing's recycling sorting. Now, since we no longer sort by paper, plastic, cans, etc., we are reducing labor by over 60%, saving approximately $60,000 in waste and recycling services, and decreasing contaminated recyclables. Congrats to all those involved!

Recognition Event for 2nd- and 3rd-Shift Staff

UW–Madison is hosting a late-night event to recognize second- and third-shift employees on Wednesday, April 10 from 10:30pm–12:30am, in Varsity Hall at Union South. Guests will enjoy a dinner buffet and have an opportunity to take photos with Bucky Badger. Employees can attend during work hours without loss of pay. Employees who are not scheduled to work during this time can also attend this event; however, they will not be paid during that time. Employees who plan to attend should tell their supervisor, and supervisors are expected to plan and provide flexibility so that all employees can join the event.

175th Anniversary Community Open House

This Friday–Sunday, April 5–7, check out the UW–Madison 175th anniversary community open house for the ultimate campus experience! All are welcome to celebrate campus during the weekend full of UW events. On Friday, we'll be hosting Cupcake Wars, where you'll compete to decorate the best cupcake. Then, on Saturday, we're introducing the food delivery robots to all who are interested. We'll be showcasing the inside of a robot, how the orders are filled, and how food is sent off to customers.
