Housing Receives Partners in Giving Awards

The results are in! Thanks to your participation, Housing won two Partners in Giving awards for the 2023 campaign. We took first place for Percent Increase in Contributions (up by 21%!) and second place for Increase in Percent Participation. A special congratulations goes to Laurie Teeter for winning the 2023 Excellence Award. All awards will be accepted at the Partners in Giving Award Ceremony at Union South on March 5. With your help, Partners in Giving is helping local charities and organizations.

Each year, UW–Madison celebrates members of our community who provide critical administrative support to our academic, research, and outreach mission. The Administrative Improvement Awards recognize outstanding work in process redesign/development or customer service that has resulted in improved efficiency, increased revenue channels, cost savings, or improved service delivery. Nominations are now open for individuals and teams. All current Academic Staff, University Staff, faculty, limited employees, and student employees are eligible for the award. The nomination deadline is Monday, March 4.

Upcoming Active Threat Response Trainings

There are two opportunities to attend the Active Threat Response training in the next few weeks. Attend a session on March 6 or March 12 at the Carson Gulley Upper Program Room. Cultural & Linguistic Services will be present for select languages at the and March 6 event. If you haven't participated in one of the trainings yet this year, you are encouraged to register for one of the upcoming events!

From the DEI Committee: Plain Language Training Opportunity

Plain Language skills can help you get your message across quickly and clearly. These skills are useful to UW employees in a wide range of positions that involve communicating with others. Training is available at no cost, and all UW–Madison faculty and staff are welcome to attend. Participants can take an introductory class on Plain Language as a stand-alone training, or attend three sequential workshops to gain a deeper understanding of core plain language strategies.

Testimonial: What I like about the program is the continued information/resources you receive via email even after you’ve completed the program and ongoing engagement. It’s a great way to promote an easy and accessible way for all people to communicate with each other. I found the tools and techniques very useful, especially working in one of the most diverse communities in the state!
