|

Students and other members of the UW–Madison community enjoyed free cake and ice cream this past Monday in celebration of the 175th Founders’ Day. On February 5, 1849, twenty students gathered in UW’s temporary quarters near thecapitol to take the first classes. To mark the anniversary, students celebrated by grabbing a treat at our dining markets and Memorial Union.

Ten Years of Housing Sustainability
|
Starting in 2013, University Housing kicked off a new wave of sustainable priorities by hiring the first Sustainability Coordinator and forming the Housing Sustainability Committee. Since then, the Housing Sustainability team, often in partnership with the UW–Madison Office of Sustainability, has undertaken multitudes of projects, large and small, that positively impacted the footprint of our buildings and communities. Nominations Open for 2024 Administrative Improvement Awards
|
Each year, UW–Madison celebrates members of our community who provide critical administrative support to our academic, research, and outreach mission. The Administrative Improvement Awards recognize outstanding work in process redesign/development or customer service that has resulted in improved efficiency, increased revenue channels, cost savings, or improved service delivery. Nominations are now open for individuals and teams. All current Academic Staff, University Staff, faculty, limited employees, and student employees are eligible for the award. The nomination deadline is Monday, March 4.

Legacy X: Black History Month on Campus
|
UW–Madison has accomplished in the last decade. Our goal is to celebrate past, present, and future Black members of UW–Madison who have — and always will — unapologetically take up space and always strive for excellence. Celebrate with
campus at events happening throughout the month, including several movie screenings this weekend and the "Black Voices Matter" professional development workshop next week Wednesday.

Celebrate Lunar New Year in Madison
|
Downtown Madison is the place to celebrate Lunar New Year! The spring festival starts this Saturday, February 10, and marks the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. Check out a special Chinese Lion Dance performance on Saturday, 2/24 at 12pm in Lisa Link Peace Park. After the performance, see the lions bless select storefronts on State Street to bring them luck and prosperity in the Year of the Dragon!

Dates Added for Active Threat Response Training
|
If you were not able to attend one of the recent Active Threat Response Trainings for Housing staff, there are three more opportunities for you to receive this training in-person. Attend a session on February 13, March 6, or March 12 at the Carson Gulley Upper Program Room. Cultural & Linguistic Services will be present for select languages at the February 13 and March 6 events.
