After 10 Years, Birchbark Canoe Hits the Water Again
The Ojibwe birchbark canoe proudly dispayed in Four Lakes Market returned to the waters of Lake Mendota this month, marking the 10-year anniversary of its making. Dejope (or Teejop) is the name that the Ho-Chunk and other Indigenous peoples have called Madison for time immemorial. Every day, the canoe gives students a visual connection to the rich and enduring heritage of this land that now makes up UW–Madison’s campus. But after a decade on land, the canoe needed to return to the water.
Last Call for Housing Guess Who? Event
Register by next Wednesday, October 25, for Housing's version of the Guess Who? game supporting Partners in Giving. Show off that old prom dress or tuxedo, bad 80’s perm, high school senior portrait, or let everyone know you were the cutest baby by submitting a photo to play. Game time will be Monday, October 30th at 1pm.

Earlier this month, the Marketing team was recognized at the ACUHO-I Marketing Awards for the Bucky List microsite, which invites UW–Madison students to try out many of the fun, unique activities around Madison that make our city so special. Thanks to its attractive design and fun content, the site received a Runner Up award in the Website category. Congratulations to Marketing!

Focus on Energy; Claim Your Free Kit
With lower temps and higher energy bills on the horizon, the Office of Sustainability is helping Badgers prepare and save. This fall, UW–Madison is participating in the Focus on Energy Higher Education Kit Challenge, a program that enables eligible students and employees to claim a free home energy-saving kit by October 31st, 2023.
