Creating an Inclusive Workplace During Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting. This year, it began the evening of March 22 and ends the evening of April 21. To be more inclusive of those who celebrate, we can be more aware and inclusive in our work through accommodations. Related: Dining's Ramadan Meal Service, Inclusive Language: Islamophobia

HR NEWS

Welcome, New Housing Employees

Join us in welcoming several new staff to the division who started in March!

Correction: Comp Time Carryover Reminder for University Staff

The last issue of the Housing Highlights incorrectly stated that University Staff Comp Time Carryover would pay out on the May A paycheck. The pay out will happen on the May B paycheck, which has a pay date of June 1st.

As a reminder, any Comp Time Carryover from 2022 that is not used by April 30, 2023 will be paid out on the May B paycheck at your regular hourly rate. Employees can use the time in Kronos by selecting the "CompUsed" pay code when taking time off or save the Comp Time Carryover when taking time off to receive a larger payout in the May B paycheck. Please work with your supervisor to ensure that your Comp Time Carryover is used in the way you prefer.

Meal Exchanges Now Available at Babcock & Union

Residents' dining plans now have new options for meal exchanges! We are working with the Babcock Dairy Store and Wisconsin Union to offer a meal exchange worth $5 at these locations. This is currently a pilot program for the rest of the spring semester, and we will evaluate after the academic year to see if it's something to continue next year.

March Madness Bracket Challenge

The results are in! Congrats to David Yazbec and Michael Monroe on having the winning brackets in this year's March Madness Bracket Competition. It's a long-standing tradition that was on hiatus for a few years, but the Housing Engagement and Recognition Team (HEaRT) brought it back. Thank you to all who participated!
