Building a Ciiporoke: A Teejop Experience

Come build community around a ciiporoke! A Ho-Chunk dwelling, the ciiporoke has been a place of home, family, community, teaching, learning, and ceremony for Ho-Chunk people at Teejop since beyond memory. Together, we can think about placemaking and explore how UW–Madison spaces can be transformed into Indigenous places. All are welcome today, November 3, on the Dejope north lawn.

Return & Reuse Name Tags

Did you know the Housing Sign Shop is able to reuse old name tags and desk plates? When student or career staff members leave, you can send these back to the Sign Shop to be reused. It's sustainable, and it helps get name tags out to new staff faster!

Thank You, Housing Veterans

As Veteran’s Day approaches on Friday, November 11th, we would like to express a HEaRT-felt thank you to veterans everywhere and especially to those who are fellow Housing staff members. A Veterans Day recognition breakfast, hosted by University Veteran Services and the Wisconsin Union, will be held on November 11th at Memorial Union. The Partners in Giving campaign also has opportunities to donate to many charitable causes in support of our veterans.

Recruitment & Retention Updates for Career Staff

University Housing has two changes to initiatives to career staff recruitment and retention. First, the night differential has increased to $2.50/hour for career staff paid hourly and work from 6pm–6am. This change backdates to October 23, 2022. Second, when referring someone to work for Housing, you can now earn $1,000 for every successful candidate hired.

Cybersecurity & Sexual Harassment and Violence Trainings

Are you up to date on your trainings? Don't forget to complete the Cybersecurity Awareness Training (all staff annually) and the Preventing Sexual Harassment & Sexual Violence Training (all career staff every four years). Both are due by December 1, 2022.

Daylight Saving Time Ends — Kronos Adjustments

Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 6 at 2am. Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour! For employees working on Saturday night/Sunday morning who will punch or are paid to schedule with an in/out time between 1:00am and 2:59am, special actions may need to be taken in employees’ Kronos timesheets.
