Bucky's burning question
Who is Witte Residence Hall named after?
Edwin Witte! A renowned economist, Witte studied as a UW–Madison undergraduate and PhD student from 1909–1927 and became a professor in 1933. His achievements led to his position as an executive director of the U.S Committee for Economic Security, where he would lead the development of the Social Security Act of 1935.
For hard work at UW–Madison and his pioneering of Social Security, Witte was named in his honor in 1964.
