Maintenance Minute: Understanding Egress Maps
Egress maps are a valuable tool for your safety. Have you taken a moment to look at the map in your room or around your residence hall? These maps not only show a layout of the building and where you are, but also locations of important things to know in an emergency.

Help Keep Your Residence Hall Safe
For the safety of you, your residence hall community, and the staff in your building, it's always important to not let in anyone in the door that who don't know or who doesn't live in the building. If someone asks you to let them in, suggest they text their friend to let them in. For extra security, close and lock your individual room door so a stranger can't walk in. Report any suspicious behavior or crime to hall staff, UWPD, or 911.

Cold and Flu Season/Appointments Required
Feeling under the weather? Here are some tips and reminders from UHS for cold and flu season.
When to stay home: For mild colds, sore throats, or low fevers, you can generally recover at home. Colds and the flu are caused by viruses, which means that antibiotics will not treat them. A doctor will generally recommend self-care to help manage your symptoms.
When to seek care: If your symptoms are rapidly worsening, include a high fever, or last more than a few days with self-care measures, it’s time to contact a health care provider.
Keep in mind: Appointments are required for medical care at UHS. The fastest way to schedule an appointment is to call UHS at 608-265-5600 (option 1). This number can also be used for medical advice (even after hours) if you aren’t sure whether to seek care.
Stay healthy!: The best way to stay healthy and prevent the flu this fall is to get vaccinated. Free flu vaccines are available at campus vaccine clinics. COVID-19 vaccines are also available.
