Rebekah Taussig's Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body is the 2024 – 2025 Go Big Read book.
Housing's student assessment team will be hosting a free dinner for students to engage in an open, reflective conversation on the themes of the book, including lived experiences of disability, accessibility, and inclusion on campus. You don’t need to identify as disabled or have finished the book to participate, just bring an open mind and interest in thoughtful discussion.
You may have previously heard a friend or someone you know say "I don’t see color" or "I'm color blind. I only see the human race”. Color Blindness ideology assumes everyone is treated as equal with no regard for race. This perspective denies the negative encounters that Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC) face due to their race. When you refuse to acknowledge one's race, you prevent yourself from being able to fully understand racism and its impacts.

As you prepare for move-out, don’t throw out unused, unwanted, or expired medications — drop them off at an upcoming medication take-back event. University Health Services(UHS) and the UW–Madison Police Department will host two events this spring where both prescription and over-the-counter medications will be accepted. Responsible disposal of medications protects the environment and helps keep friends, roommates, family, and pets safe.
