Lakeshore Residents: Address Your Packages to the Package Center
If you live in the Lakeshore neighborhood (excluding Waters), help make sure you get your packages with an easy change to the delivery address you use. As you know, packages normally come to the Lakeshore Package Center (LPC) where they are held securely for you to pick up. However, many of you have been having issues with delivery drivers from various companies delivering packages outside of your hall instead of at the LPC. While we have limited control over these outside drivers, we have found that changing the way you address packages will help get your deliveries to the right place more quickly and safely. Check your wisc.edu email account for an email from us last Thursday, October 12 to see how you should address all future packages.

Maintenance Minute: Remove Your Air Conditioner
|
It's getting chilly out there! If your room has a portable air conditioner, now is a great time to remove it from your window if you haven't already. Afterward, make sure your window seals tightly so you don't have drafty air in your room. Check to see if your screen is in good condition, too! If you need assistance removing your air conditioner or you have trouble with your window, submit a maintenance request and our staff will promptly help.
|
Related: Since the weather is changing, make sure you are monitoring the moisture level in your room. When excess moisture is present, this can cause ambient mold spores in the environment to develop as surface mold.

Ojibwe Birchbark Canoe Returns to Lake Mendota After Ten Years
Ten years ago, a birchbark canoe cut through the icy waters of Lake Mendota, paddled by its maker, Wayne Valliere (Mino-giizhig in Ojibwe) of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Once back on land, the canoe was installed in Dejope Residence Hall, where it has hung on display from the dining market rafters ever since. On Oct. 5, the birchbark canoe once again entered Lake Mendota, marking the 10-year anniversary of its making.
